Volunteer Program
Volunteers:
Volunteers are a vital part of the
Grafton County Nursing Home. They represent the talents,
gifts and experiences of our local community. They
are "team players" who help to enhance the
quality of life for our residents.
Who Are Our Volunteers?
 | Members of RSVP (Retired Senior
Volunteer Program). |
 | Teenagers/Youth. |
 | Community groups, including church
groups, school groups, and civic groups. |
 | Youth groups, including the 4-H Club,
Brownies, Boy and Girl Scouts, and after school
programs. |
 | Retired business people and
homemakers. |
 | Working adults of all ages. |
 | Residents also volunteer, helping
other residents with an activity. |
Our volunteers offer us from one to
several hours per week. Without the dedication and
commitment of our hard-working volunteers, we would be
unable to offer our residents the varied activities and
programs which they enjoy.
Our volunteer needs vary depending on
residents specific needs, activities, and programs offered
during the year.
What Do Volunteers Do?
 | Visit, read
to, and assist
residents with letters. |
 | Take residents outside during nice
weather. |
 | Play cards or board
games with residents. |
 | Tend the Country Cafe - serving
coffee and snacks to residents, friends, and their family
members. |
 | Help with group activities such
as, bingo, pokeno, bowling, etc. |
 | Provide music - playing the piano,
an instrument or singing. |
 | Assist with special events, such
as Family Day, Monte Carlo Night, Trick-or-Treat
Street, Christmas parties, Easter Egg Lane. |
 | Assist wheelchair residents to
special events. |
 | Assist with special trips such as,
the North Haverhill Fair, Big Apple Circus, boat
trips, etc. |
 | Tend the Country Store. |
Benefits of Becoming A Volunteer:
The benefit of
becoming a volunteer at the Grafton
County Nursing Home is you get a feeling of self worth and the
realization of brightening the lives of others.
Volunteer Needs:
More volunteers are needed to assist with
special activities, such as crafts, men's groups, reading
groups or reading and musical programs.
We welcome individual or groups to come in
and demonstrate special skills or hobbies that would be of
interest to our residents.
